Outreach into educational institutions in both the United States and China is a key facet of Zi Ru / Tiger Productions and has been since the company.s formation in 2007. Thus far, we have provided free youth and college-level master classes to over 10 educational institutions, and we would like to expand our programming to include your school. Our aim is to increase the number of local San Francisco Bay Area schools we partner with in this year.s Master Class Outreach Series.

Master Class Outreach Series

Our master classes are specifically designed to be accessible to those with little to no dance training and provide benefits far beyond a lesson in dance and martial arts skills.

We offer a specific dance style called Tiger Hip-Hop™ / Tiger Motion™ which emphasizes freedom of creative motion through incorporation of martial arts heritage and traditional dance disciplines (modern, ballet and hip hop).

Structure of Outreach Opportunity

Each master class opens with a short showing of a Zi Ru / Tiger Productions excerpt to give your students a feel for the physical, mental, and emotional elements required in this art form. Students experience these professional artists from both the United States and China first-hand in an up-close and personal viewing of our work.

Following this performance, the artists will teach the students a section of the dance they just saw. By connecting the students. visual experience to a kinesthetic one, we can start to bridge the gap among different learning styles. In studying movement, students quickly develop a solid relationship between visual observation and physical execution and start to gain a deeper, more balanced understanding of themselves.

These master classes are offered free of charge to all participating students and their host schools. In partnering with specific schools for this free opportunity, we ask that the schools provide space and flexibility in scheduling to allow for all students to participate fully.

In partnering with various schools over the last two years, we have discovered that early exposure to our hybrid dance and martial arts style has several potential benefits:

• Will increase the students. awareness of their own physical presence and how each individual relates to the space and people around them
• Will invite an exploration of artistry in a safe and nurturing environment
• Will build a cross-cultural understanding of Eastern and Western cultures, an essential tool for academic and societal success in the 21st century

Looking Beyond

Students who show exceptional interest in Zi Ru / Tiger Productions will be invited to attend, as scholarship students, a Tiger Intensive Workshop.

In addition, participating students and families will receive special discounts to our performances in San Francisco and the Peninsula in November 2010.
